Evesham United goalkeeper Louie Barnfather has been selected by the Gibraltar FA for the senior squad against Malta. Barnfather was born in Gibraltar and his father is a Gibraltarian. The friendly match will be played in Faro, Portugal against Malta on June 4th.
Gibraltar are taking part in the Euro 2016 qualifiers for the first time and are drawn in a group alongside Germany, Poland, Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Georgia.
Louie is the second player in the history of Evesham United to be called into an international team whilst playing for the club. Tesfa Robinson played for St. Kitts & Nevis in the Caribbean Cup qualifiers in October 2012.
So good luck Louie, here’s hoping you impress and can make the Euro Qualifiers squad in the Autumn.
