Evesham’s U18 Girls had a fantastic run over the last three games with three  hard fought victories in the space of eight days.

A victory away at Starland St Annes when Evesham (with only 10 players) scored goals through Hannah Campbell (2) and Kelly Fowkes to gain victory.

This was followed the next Thursday by a trip to Wolverhampton for a game under floodlights against a very spirited Wednesfield side on a hard and bumpy pitch.

Although Evesham went behind, and were battered and bruised at the end, goals from Sophie Griffiths and two from Hannah Watts (a coolly taken penalty and a superb strike into the top corner from outside the area) saw the girls again come away with the victory.

Next up, at the Jubilee Stadium, were Walsall who at the start of the game were second in the table with Evesham 2 points behind on the same games played. Although the match was severely hampered by a strong wind, the game was well controlled by Evesham. Although 0-0 at half time, a long range effort from left back Beth Guy and a finely worked goal scored by Laura Powers took the girls up to second in the League with one game of the season remaining.

A special mention for the rest of the team who have all been superb over these games; Amy Campbell, Lauren Cowley, Millie Meadows, Hannah Lowerson, Zoe Pygott, Rosie Preston, Hannah Kedward and temporary Goalkeeper Sophie Broome.

The next two Saturdays the Evesham Girls travel to Coundon Court on 11th May kick off 10.30am then they are in the League Cup Final at Rugby Town JFC on the 18th May kick off 6pm – all supporters would be very welcome.

The girls are also looking for new recruits for next season to keep up the high quality performances they are used to.
