On a cold dank Sunday afternoon Evesham welcomed the league newcomers WCT Raiders.  Within five minutes of the start Evesham were 1 – 0 up with a lob from Rosie Johns over the keeper. A few minutes later a defensive mix up within the Raiders back line caused the ball to fall to Sam Scully who then slotted it home to make the score 2 – 0. The rest of the first half was a bit mundane with the exception of Sophie Griffiths looking dangerous on the right wing.

In the second half Evesham came out with more determination. The defence, Jess Newman, Tori Rawlings, Kate Meadows and her sister Millie looking strong with keeper Lisa Cropper managing high balls with solid determination off her line. Griffiths had a shot saved by the opposition’s keeper at the near post. With Evesham pressing, 25 minutes into the second half  Scully was brought down in the penalty area and  Griffiths scored. With Evesham looking strong Scully made it 4 – 0. Further chances fell to Hannah Campbell although she shot wide.
Next match – away Malvern Ladies FC (H & W Cup)  19th October 2pm.
