Evesham beat higher graded Histon tonight at the Jubilee Stadium to progress to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

Ashley Edenborough opened the scoring in the 9th minute when a clearance from keeper Kevin Sawyer found its way to Lance Smith who created a shooting opportunity for himself that the keeper saved but Edenborough followed up with a shot that went in off the bar.

Evesham continued to play well and should have gone into half time holding more than a one goal lead.

Early in the second half another clearance from Sawyer went to Elliott Kennedy who forced his way into the box and shot powerfully into the next to go 2-0 up.  George Washbourne missed a good chance and soon after Histon pulled a goal back through Freeman in the 75th minutes.

Kennedy missed a good opportunity with a header and Edenborough struck the bar with a free kick.  However in the 85th minute Edenborough was brought down in the box and he scored with the resultant penalty.

Evesham now host Southern League Division 1 Central side Chalfont St Peter in the next round on Saturday 11th October.
