It may be over a month since Evesham United lost 2-0 at Shortwood United but it’s a result that still “riles” manager Paul Collicutt according to the Worcester News.

And the Robins boss has urged his players to banish the memory of that performance by beating Shortwood in the FA Trophy preliminary round at Meadow Bank tomorrow (3pm).

“The way we got beaten that day was bad,” Collicutt said. “It left a bitter taste in my mouth and that taste is still there.

“Shortwood deservedly won but it still riles me, so we need to give a far better account of ourselves than we did on that Bank Holiday Monday and perform like we have done in recent weeks.

“From the club’s point of view, it’s a big game and a big tournament, so I am looking forward to it.”

After a much-changed Evesham side lost 4-1 to Leamington in the Evo-Stik Southern League Challenge Cup in midweek, Collicutt is expected to bring a number of first-team regulars back into the fold.

Experienced goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer is poised to replace Sam Gilder, while defender Linden Dovey and midfielder Joe Turley are likely to return.

Centre-back Leroy Odiero will also go straight into the squad after rejoining Evesham on loan from Gloucester City for the rest of the season.
