Striker Mark Francis has become Evesham United’s latest signing in the last 24 hours. He will go straight into the squad for today’s visit to Slimbridge.

The 22-year-old, former Swindon Town forward was released by Salisbury FC, earlier this season having signed for them from Wantage Town, where he was the leading scorer during season 16/17.

Despite Wantage being relegated from the Southern One South & West, Francis returned impressive stats of 18 goals from 40 appearances for the basement club.

Dorchester-born Francis began his career in the Portsmouth academy set-up and, following his release from Fratton Park, joined Swindon Town.

He made his Swindon first-team debut off the bench in a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United in April 2013.

During his time with Swindon, he went on loan to AFC Totton but injury curtailed his stay with the Stags.

Following his release by Swindon in May 2014, Francis has moved around the Southern League circuit with Didcot, Chippenham and Frome.
