Bridgnorth Ladies 0-7 Evesham United Ladies

On a bright but stormy Sunday afternoon Evesham Ladies travelled up the M54 to Telford to play Bridgnorth Ladies on a superb 3G surface. From the start the visitors took the game to Bridgnorth and from an early attack Grace Harker put Evesham ahead with help from Immy Wray pouncing to force the ball over the line after the keeper hadn’t controlled her save. Evesham then continued to take the game to Bridgnorth with some very tidy approach play, Hannah Watts spreading the ball wide to the wings. However the competent goalkeeping from Becky Ruston was initially keeping the visitors at bay.

The introduction of Katie Armento the Evesham striker increased the intensity on the hosts goal and shortly after Hannah Campbell converted a superb cross from Sophie Griffiths to double the lead. Armento then added a third herself with a long range shot before Harker got her second cutting in from the left and firing a right foot shot high into the Bridgnorth net.

After much needed refreshment at half time the game continued at a steady pace with the hosts pushing to get into the game. Kelly Fowkes replaced Rosie Johns in the Evesham goal as Johns initially moved into midfield. Watts continued to create in the centre with Johns and mid way through the second half helped Griffiths to the fifth goal. Griffiths again flew down the wing to cross for Harker to get her head and shoulder to the ball to score her third. The visitors then made more changes moving Millie Meadows up front from centre back and after a couple of mishit shots she managed to curl a ball in from the edge of the area to finish the scoring and send Evesham home with the points.
