Match Reports

21.4.13  Evesham United Robins U14′s 1 - Nunnery Wood 2
Evesham failed at the last hurdle and surrendered the title to Nunnery Wood.  In a hard fought game, Evesham started the brighter and could have taken the lead when Dom Taylor fired wide.  Tom Leonard also failed to find the target with a snap shot.  This spurred Nunnery Wood and they took the lead when the ball came back off the keeper.  Just before half time, from a corner, Nunnery Wood’s centre half rose to score a fine header.
Early in the second half, Nunnery Wood had a man sent off for stamping and Evesham took advantage with Dom Taylor’s fine run and cross for Bradley Izod to score.  Both teams had chances to score, but Nunnery Wood came out on top 2-1 to the new champions.
3.3.13  Evesham United Robins U14′s 6 - Fintan 0
After a slow start Evesham got into their stride with a good 6-0 win.  Dan Tustin scored the first with a well struck shot followed by Tom Leonard assisted by Ryan Reeves.  Leonard then found Dom Taylor who made it 3-0 at half time.
After the break, the goals continued with George Robinson hitting a brace after good work from James Noble and William Warren.  Leonard then went on a great run beating three players before smashing the ball home for the sixth goal.
24.2.13   Painswick U14′s 1 - Evesham United Robins U14′s 7
On a cold Sunday afternoon, Evesham ran out 7-1 winners against a Painswick side who didn’t give up.  Evesham’s Tom Leonard struck a sweet left foot shot to open the scoring quickly followed by Jonathon Robinson’s goal.  But Painswick struck back just before half time to make it 2-1.
After the break, Evesham upped the pace and the goals flowed with Dan Tustin, Dominic Taylor, Thomas Backx, Tariq Lamb and a second goal from Robinson to finish 7-1 winners.

17.2.13    Lakeside 0 - Evesham United Robins U14′s 0

Keeper, Josh Rogers, was in outstanding form with a string of saves but Evesham had their chances as well.  Evesham’s defense of Ed Bagley, Jo O’Hra, Jack Rogers and Bradley Izod played their part in keeping a clean sheet in a very entertaining end to end game.  Ryan Reeves and Dan Tustin combined well in midfield with Ben Ainsworth and Will Warren adding support.  Jonathon Robinson with Dom Taylor and Tom Leonard caused problems to the Lakeside defense but failed to get the winning goal.
3.2.13  Charlton Rovers 1 - Evesham United Robins U14′s 4
Evesham struggled in the first half and could not find any rhythm to their game resulting in Charlton Rovers taking a first half lead.
The second half brought changes and Evesham improved with Bradley Izod’s fine run and shot to square the score.  Dominic Taylor’s jinking run into the box was fouled and George Robinson scored with the resulting penalty to make it 2-1.  Taylor then scored a rebound after Izod’s run and shot was saved.  Fine midfield work by Thomas Leonard and Ryan Reeves and Dan Tustin resulted in a corner and Izod scored his second with a fine header .  Evesham finished their game 4-1 victors.
13.1.13    Nunnery Wood U14′s 0 - Evesham United Robins U14′s 0
A very good entertaining game between the first and second teams in the league ended in a 0-0 draw.  Chances were in short supply with both defenses on top.  Ed Bagley, Jo O’Hara, Jack Rogers and Tariq Lamb had to be on their game and excelled.  Jake Humphries with Dan Tustin and Ryan Reeves were excellent in midfield.  The big chance in the first half fell to Dom Taylor who sent the defender the wrong way only to see his shot saved.
Both teams battled away in the second with Nunnery Wood’s keeper the slightly busier of the two.  Bradley Izod and Tom Leonard and Jonathon Robinson worked their socks off to ensure the result with Evesham the happier team.
6.1.13     Finton U14′s 0 - Evesham United Robins U14′s 4
Probably due to too many mince pies, Evesham struggled in their first game after Christmas.  In the first half, they just didn’t get going and were chasing the ball, but just before half-time, George Robinson got the ball on the half way and powered his way towards goal and finished coolly.
A good pep talk at half time and some changes saw a different team in the second half and they dominated with Ryan Reeves and Dan Tustin winning the battle in midfield.  George Robinson then slotted number 2 after Bradley Izod’s great running.  Robinson then found Dom Taylor who ran on to score to make it 3-0.  Finton’s keeper pulled off a string of saves and Robinson’s header crashed off the crossbar.  In the final seconds Ben Ainsworth scored after good work from James Noble to make it 4-0 to the relief of the coaches.
16.12.12       Evesham United Robins U14′s 2 - Quedgley Rangers 1
An excellent passing game of football ending with a victory for Evesham.  Evesham started strongly and moved the ball well with Tom Leonard and Ryan Reeves linking up in midfield, but good goalkeeping and defending kept Evesham out.  Then, a defensive mistake by Evesham allowed Quedgley to take the lead just before halftime.  After the break, both teams had chances but it was George Robinson who powered his way into the box to smash the ball in to level the scores.
With minutes to go, great work from Dan Tustin and Bradley Izod allowed Leonard to pass to Dom Taylor in the box who lifted the ball over the keeper to make it 2-1.  However, it wasn’t all over, only a great penalty save from Josh Rogers in the dying seconds allowed Evesham to take all the points.
18.11.12        Evesham United Robins U14′s 7 - Painswick 1
Evesham easily overcame Painswick to record a 7-0 victory.  Tom Leonard scored a first half hat-trick with Ryan Reeves adding another to make it 4-0 at the break.
In the second half, Evesham eased off the pressure and Painswick scored after a defensive mistake.  Bradley Izod added two more goals with Johnathon Robinson finishing the route.
11.11.12        Gotherington 0 – Evesham United Robins U14′s 4
Evesham traveled to Cheltenham on a lovely sunny afternoon and came away winning and into the next round of the Cup.  In the first half Evesham slowly took charge and were unlucky with Bradley Izod and Ben Ainsworth just blocked on the line, and the score remained 0-0 until half-time.
After the break, Evesham had a bit more purpose about them and started to get behind Gotherington’s defense with Jack Rogers and Dom Taylor threatening down the left and it was Taylor who opened the scoring with a speculate shot which deceived the keeper.  Then  a great move ending with Jake Humphries’ great pass to Joseph O’Hara who fired it in off the post to make it 2-0.  Evesham were fully in command with Ed Bagley and Tariq Lamb stopping any attack.  Ainsworth then put in a good cross for Tom Leonard to head home.  And to finish the game with a bit of a goal mouth scramble Ainsworth forced the ball over the line for a fine 4-0 win.
21.10.12       Evesham United Robins U14′s 4 – Charlton Rovers 1
A Tom Leonard hat-trick helped Evesham Robins maintain their unbeaten start to the season. However, it was Charlton Rovers who opened the scoring with a well taken goal following a defensive mix-up. Evesham responded with Tom Leonard collecting Josh Rogers’ long goal kick, rounding the keeper and putting the ball into the empty net. A through ball from Joseph O’Hara saw Tom use his strength to beat his marker and slot in his second. The game continued to be a scrappy affair with neither team able to maintain control. The midfield of Will Warren, Dan Tustin and James Noble worked tirelessly and Tariq Lamb and Edward Bagley made timely interceptions to thwart Charlton. Tom’s hat-trick goal came following a John Robinson corner which Charlton were unable to clear and Tom smashed the ball home. Dan Tustin missed a penalty after Bradley Izod was brought down by the Charlton keeper.
The second half was a completely different affair with Evesham dominating possession and creating chance after chance. The final goal of the game came with Ben Ainsworth coolly slotting home from Tom Leonard’s square ball. Evesham continued to push forward but were unable to add to their tally.
18.10.12       Evesham United Robins U14′s 3 – Lexvogels U14′s 1
Evesham welcomed the Dutch side Lexvogels who are on tour and which proved to be a very entertaining game. Both sides passed the ball well but it was Evesham who started pressing higher up the pitch with Bradley Izod getting some dangerous crossing in. The first goal came to Evesham with Tom Leonard’s great pass finding Dom Taylor for a competent finish. Dan Tustin and William Warren were outstanding in the middle and with the defence on top held the Dutch side to 1-0 at the break.
At the start of the second half Evesham remained on top and were unlucky not to score with Jonathon Robinson failing to connect a good chance. Evesham then scored through a good goal from Leonard but this prompted the Dutch side to up their game and scored through a defensive error then Josh Rogers saving at the near post. But then came the goal of the game with quick direct passes starting with Ryan Reeves who found Leonard who went on to pass to Tom Backx to net the third and decisive goal for Evesham to win.
This was an excellent match and a great opportunity for two teams from different countries to show their skills. Thank you to Lexvogels.
14.10.12  Evesham United Robins U14′s 3 – Quedgley 1
Evesham welcomed a very good Quedgley side from Gloucester in the cup, resulting in a fine 3-1 win.  The first half was tight with both sides having spells of possession, but it was Quedgley who struck first.  It came from an Evesham attack being broken by Quedgley resulting in a goal.  Evesham wasn’t behind for long when a great Tom Leonard pass found Dom Taylor who lobbed the keeper for 1-1.
In the second half, Ed Bagley’s defense with Jo O’Hara, Jack Rogers and keeper Josh Rogers, got on top and controlled the game and kept Quedgley to long range efforts.  Then, in the 60th minute, Evesham won a corner resulting in William Warren heading over the keeper to make it 2-1.  Towards the end of the game, great work from Bradley Izod and Thomas Backs caused trouble in Quedgley’s box and Warren fired home for his second and for an Evesham 3-1 win.
7.10.12  Evesham United Robins U14′s 4 – Newent Town 0
Evesham welcomed Newent to the new ground with some fast and direct attacking play. Newent were slightly quicker in the middle in the opening stages, but it was Evesham who scored first with a move involving Bradley Izod and Ryan Reeves enabling Dominic Taylor to score at the second attempt. Then, Tom Leonard struck to make it 2-0 after William Warren and Dan Tustin had won the ball.
After the break, Newent didn’t give up but the defense of Ed Bagley, Jo O’Hara, Jack Rogers and Jake Humphries with goal-keeper Josh Rogers thwarted every move. Evesham’s midfield slowly started to get on top and Leonard scored his second after good work from James Noble and Jonathon Robinson. However, Leonard saved the best until last with a stunning strike for his hat-trick and a 4-0 win.
23.9.12  Evesham United Robins U14′s 3 – Lakeside 1
Evesham’s first half display sent a message to the rest of the league as they played with pace and skill.  Tom Leonard found a direct route to goal and finished in style.  Then a great Ryan Reeves pass found Leonard who again finished superbly.  Dom Taylor had a great chance to make it 3 at the break but the goalkeeper just about tipped the ball round the post for a great save.
After the break Lakeside came back strongly and Ed Bagley and Tariq Lamb, with Jack Rogers and Jo O’Hara, defended as if there lives depended on it.  But Evesham were still dangerous on the break.  Lakeside then found some space and punished Evesham with a shot from outside the box to make it 2-1.  Again Evesham came back.  After Ryan Reeves’ initial hard work, Leonard went on to find Reeves who scored to make it 3-1 for a hard fought and satisfying win.
