Evesham Ladies 2 vs Cookley Ladies 2 (lost 4-3 on penalties)

Evesham Ladies unluckily lost their semi final in the League Cup to Cookley Ladies in a game of two halfs.

Cookley dominated the first half against a sluggish Evesham side and scored two goals through an own goal from Sam Perry and a fine header from a corner. Evesham’s only chance came from a Perry free-kick which was just wide.

The second half was a completely different affair with Evesham pushing the midfield up to support the front players with Millie Meadows coming back  from injury looking more comfortable in her usual defensive position. Every player looking sharper closing down and better in the tackle and deservedly drew level from a Rosie Johns header and a fine finish from Grace Harker.

Sam Scully and Emily Young were looking dangerous up front chasing long through balls with Evesham on the front foot.  Cookley were still looking dangerous on the break but the hosts defended well.

The game went to penalties with the fog descending, but unfortunately they lost 4-3 despite keeper Lisa Cropper saving one spot kick. They can take great heart from a rousing second half display into their league programme.
