Ludlow Ladies 1 Evesham Utd Ladies 4

Evesham travelled to Shropshire to play Ludlow Ladies on an artificial surface with a depleted squad and produced a superb performance and result.

The visitors started strongly with Summer Collishaw looking lively on the right wing and Natalie Potter and Domi Mayhew controlling the midfield. Ludlow were having their chances, but the finishing was weak and off target.

It took Evesham 18 minutes to score when a ball over the top from Potter found Collishaw who netted.  The game was halted when a heavy hail storm stopped play and when it resumed Evesham soon made it 2-0 from a Potter free kick.  Amy Summers ran through to score to make it 3-0. Ludlow were still having plenty of chances but their finishing didn’t improve and Evesham showed them how to do it with a beauty from Collishaw. She had a another chance but the keeper saved well. With only 11 players in the squad and no subs, Evesham showed great spirit to lead 4-0 at half time.

With the visitors content to sit on their lead, Ludlow were looking for any consolation goal but Rosie Johns was having a fine game in goal dealing with everything thrown at her, plus the makeshift centre backs Nicole Maher and Jess Newman.  Evesham could have extended the lead, but Grace Harker with a fine run and shot and Tash Bryant went wide.  The hosts did eventually score after Johns let the ball squirm under her arms, but the visitors came away with a comfortable victory.
