‘Your never too old to lace up your boots!’  That’s the view of many older footballers in and around the Evesham community, so the club are proud to announce the start of a new side at the Jubilee… Evesham United Veterans.

With the FA national focus on trying to attract older footballers back into the game, it’s a great time for the club to develop this side. The Worcestershire FA are in the final stages of developing a new county wide Veterans League of which Evesham United will compete in.

Team Manager Jordan Maskell commented… “I hear of lots of players either enjoying the twilight of their playing careers in local league football, six-a-side leagues or just having a kick around with friends that are keen to continue playing competitively. However most are fed up of chasing the youngsters around the park and things like injury recovery or family / work commitments are making this increasingly difficult. So to develop a new side for Evesham at Over 35’s was a ‘no-brainer”.

“We’ve received great support from the club and the local FA plus interest grows weekly with new faces getting involved all the time. We are training weekly at the moment and have a number of friendlies in the diary over the next 6 weeks. Although the exact league format is still to be decided, it is likely that games will take place fortnightly, will include roll-in, roll-off substitutions and of course played at a pace suited to the older player, where that half a yard is upstairs and not on the pitch!”

“We hope to attract plenty of interest from the local community and look forward to seeing everyone at the games and social events that are coming up.”

Details will be released on the club website, local press and on the teams Facebook page.
