On a rather wet and windy afternoon the two local rivals came head to head. The hosts started strongly and pegged Evesham back in their half whilst the game settled down. For the first 15 minutes there was little between the teams with both battling to get control. It was however a typical break through the middle by Evesham striker Hannah Campbell that initially saw the ball parried by the on rushing keeper, but as the ball looped toward the goal Katie Armento made certain heading into the net to open the scoring. Evesham then got the upper hand and birthday girl Sophie Griffiths soon made it 2-0 with a run and low shot. Evesham continued to press and although Lisa Cropper in the Rangers goal was in good form she was unable to stop Armento and Griffiths adding two further goals each to bring up both their hat tricks and a half time score of 6-0 to the visitors.

As expected Drakes Broughton Rangers came out fighting in the second half and threw everything at Evesham’s Ladies but they were not to be undone today and after another break down the right Evesham found Laura Pearce in the box who shot strongly into the corner. It was then Immy Wray’s turn to find the net when she beat the defender and shot under the keeper from a tight angle. The Rangers continued to try and keep Evesham at bay, but when Hannah Campbell returned on the left her strong run and pinpoint cross to Pearce allowed her to get her second of the game.

A thoroughly impressive display by the Evesham Ladies against a very determined Drakes Broughton Rangers.  Final score 0-9.

The game was played in a competitive but mutually respectable manner by both sides, giving the referee an easy afternoon. Lisa Cropper and Millie Meadows were awarded players of the match for Drakes Broughton and Evesham Ladies respectively.
