Two goals by Jordan Johnson was enough to send Leek Town into the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy at the Jubilee Stadium. Leek who are top and un-beaten in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South, were made to work hard for their win with Johnson`s finishing the difference between the two sides.

Evesham made the early running and only the outstretched body of Blues keeper Ben Chapman prevented Lance Smith from firing United into an early lead. John Johnston was causing the Robins plenty of problems with his pace  down the right and from one of his surging runs his cross enabled Johnson to sweep in Leek`s opening goal on 23 minutes. Evesham responded and had the ball in the net before half-time but Nat Lewars effort was adjudged to have been offside.

United pressed for an equaliser during the opening stages of the second half with Chapman called into action to save from Smith and then the hardworking Marcus Jackson. The crossbar then prevented Johnson from adding a second with a well struck free-kick but the striker was on the scoresheet for a second time twelve minutes from time. Skipper Ryan Dicker did all the hard work before supplying a low cross which Johnson buried from six yards. United never gave up and there was still time before the end for Neil Barnfield to thump a drive against a post and then Carl Brown landed a shot onto the roof of the net with Chapman beaten.

Leek`s reward is an away tie in the Second Qualifying Round at either Witton Albion or FC United of Manchester.
