Evesham United remain unbeaten in the Southern League South & West but were held to a goalless draw by Bridgwater Town at the Jubilee
Stadium. Robins manager Paul Collicutt named the same starting eleven that trounced Bishops Cleeve 5-0 in midweek, which meant last seasons leading scorer Lance Smith had to make do with a place on the substitutes bench after returning from holiday.

Home keeper Kevin Sawyer was first to be tested holding onto Karim Rendell`s drive before the woodwork prevented star striker Ashley Edenborough from firing United ahead when his powerful shot rattled the crossbar and bounced clear with Town stopper Ben John beaten.
The impressive Sawyer then produced the save of the match when he somehow managed to touch over Ollie Chamberlain`s shot from
close-range when the Bridgwater forward looked certain to find the back of the net. The rest of the first-half belonged to the home side but half-chances that fell their way were not converted. A number of goalmouth scrambles were cleared by the Town defence and efforts by Jared Wilson, Ethan Moore and Smith on for the injured Edenborough, were all wide of the target.

HALF-TIME: EVESHAM UNITED (0) BRIDGWATER TOWN (0)

The second-half followed suit with Evesham looking the more likely side to score and Bridgwater relying on the pace of Rendell on the counter-attack. Several free-kicks were awarded to United in dangerous positions in and around the visitors box but all came to nothing and it was left to veteran Marcus Jackson who was again outstanding for the Robins, to create the best opening when he sprinted down the right and steered his shot across the face of goal with no colleague on hand for a simple tap-in at the far post. The game, however, finished on a sour note when Bridgwater substitute Karl Tooze lashed out at Elliot Kennedy in stoppage-time and was shown a straight red for his actions.
There was little time remaining for United to take advantage of the extra man and had to settle for their second draw in three games.
