Evesham United bowed out of the Red Insure Cup at the First Round stage losing 3-1 to neighbours Bishops Cleeve at the Jubilee Stadium. It was the Villagers second win over United this season having beaten Shaun Cunnington`s side in the league last month.

The deadlock was broken in an even first half three minutes before half-time, when Jake Lee beat John Bateman with a well executed finish from the edge of the box. United`s task was made harder when Cleeve`s Ed Williams side stepped a United defender before firing in the visitor`s second beyond the diving Bateman. The Evesham stopper then prevented Andy Venning from making it three with a fine save when faced with a one-on-one with the Cleeve midfielder. United substitute Nat Lewars struck a post after racing clear and then a period of pressure from the Robins was rewarded with Linden Dovey pulling a goal back with a neat finish on 73 minutes. Lee then put the game out of United`s reach just three minutes later with a well directed header from a left wing corner. Full-back Jared Wilson went close to pulling a goal back following good work by Dovey but the visitors easily saw out time to book their place in the Second Round.
