Evesham United were denied victory in the Calor League Division One South & West when Sam Malsom struck a late equaliser to earn big spending Tiverton Town a share of the points at the Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium.

Evesham who were missing a host of key players through injury, handed a debut to 19-year-old Ed Williams who has joined United on a month`s loan from League Two Cheltenham Town. Evesham took time to get their game going and it was Tiverton who opened strongly. Nick Rudge and Matt Villis both had efforts cleared off the line by the impressive Adam Millard and Richard Mansell respectively and keeper John Bateman spread himself well to push aside a drive from Dan Smith. The Robins fought back, however, and took the lead with their first effort on goal after 30 minutes. Williams won a corner on the left and from the youngsters flag-kick, skipper Richard Mansell who was excellent throughout, powerfully headed home his first goal of the season. It could have got better for United before half-time when James Vercesi`s drive was turned behind by Mike Searle at full stretch and then the Tivvy keeper safely gathered Mansell`s well struck free-kick.

Tiverton were close to pulling a goal back during the early stages of the second-half but Bateman was again up to the task pulling off important saves from Josh Searle and leading scorer Matt Wright. The lively Williams continued to look threatening for the hosts, crossing to Carl Brown who glanced a header wide and seeing his snap-shot fly just over with Searle
beaten. But it was Tiverton who were to have the final say with two minutes to go. Substitute Malsom delivered a cross-shot from wide left that sailed over the head of Bateman and nestled in the back of the net.

Despite the draw it`s now one defeat in six for United who head to Godalming on Saturday looking for their second win on the road this season.
