On a very windy Sunday afternoon the two ladies teams put on an excellent game of football in tricky conditions in the  Herefordshire & Worcestershire  Women’s County League .

Evesham started strongly, and captain Rosie Johns scored after just 5 minutes to give the hosts the lead. With the strong wind behind them Evesham continued to press with Bartestree defending strongly deep in their own half. Evesham kept pressing and a second goal came after half an hour with Katie Armento finishing strongly. Half time 2-0

The second half was a rather different story and Bartestree pushed forward, their turn to take advantage of the wind. With Evesham resting on their laurels slightly, Bartestree won a penalty which they neatly dispatched from the spot bringing the score to 2-1. This lifted the visitors and they continued to pressurise Evesham who were having to defend and play on the counter attack, and when Evesham did break through they were continually thwarted by the heroic goalkeeping of Meg Bull both brave and athletic. She saved at least six goal bound efforts from the Evesham strike force and it wasn’t until the 80th minute Evesham eventually scored a third goal through Hannah Campbell.

This was a good start for the newly formed Ladies team.
