2nd Round

Monday 26th September 2016

Evesham United Youth 4

Dudley Town Youth 1

Evesham United’s youth team returned to winning ways in the League Cup with a 4-1 victory against North Western Division side Dudley Town.

It was the away team who started the game brightly and but for a couple of very sharp saves from Callum Marshall would have taken the lead within the first 10 minutes. The Evesham keeper was given no chance when Dudley Town did strike in the 13th minute from a good cross. The pattern was set for the next 30 minutes with both teams being wasteful when presented with opportunities. It wasn’t until the 43rd minute that Evesham finally hit the target, when Jack Beardsell was on hand to side foot home the equaliser, following a good move involving Declan Juliff and Dan Tustin down the left wing. Less than a minute later the home side went in front when the Dudley defence appealed for an offside decision that did not come and Juliff broke clear to calmly slot the ball home.

In the second half, Marshall was again the busier keeper producing two important saves and this created the platform for the Evesham players who did take their chances. Tom Ravenhall scored direct from a free kick with a curling finish that the keeper could not reach, and in the last minute Brad Izod converted a penalty after Ewen Dunbar had been fouled inside the box.
