Evesham United`s torrid run of results in the Calor League South & West continued at Lodge Road with the Robins going down to their 5th defeat in six games.

Brown: 12th goal of season

Brown: 12th goal of season

Although Carl Brown fired United into an early lead, Paul Collicutt`s side were unable to build on their advantage and Yate hit back through a Jordan Roger`s brace to remain on course for a play-off place. A confident start led to Evesham going in front after just eleven minutes. Joe Eyre`s corner fell to Brown just inside the box and the United striker bagged his 12th goal of the season with a superb strike past Town keeper Martin Horsall.

Lance Smith got clear three times as United enjoyed their best spell of the game but on each occasion failed to find a way past the advancing Horsall.
This proved costly at Yate went on to level the scores with their only shot on target four minutes before half-time. Jake Cox got down the left before crossing low to the unmarked Rogers who easily converted from close range.

The home side were more threatening in the second-half and got what proved to be the winning goal in the 55th minute. Rogers again found the target outjumping the United defence to head home James Harmer`s flag-kick. Shortly after, Rogers went close to completing a hat-trick when his drive sailed inches over with Louie Barnfather beaten. The United keeper was kept busy denying Jordan Ricketts with an outstretched leg and then bending backwards to brilliantly touch over Mike Bryant`s long-range volley.

United upped the tempo in the closing stages without testing Horsall, although Marcus Palmer and Brown did create themselves openings but lacked direction to find the back of the net.
