  • Tickets Still on Sale for Player of the Year Dinner

    (0)May 20, 2013Club News [Default]

The Evesham United Player of the Year takes place on Friday 24th May at the Jubilee Stadium starting at 7.30pm.  There will be a four course meal and presentations for Player of the Year etc. This year the after dinner speaker will be Steve Kindon, who has an excellent reputation for his fun and entertaining tales on and off the pitch. Steve is a former professional footballer who played mainly on the left wing where his speed was an asset, but also played at centre forward. Steve began his career at Burnley where he played over 100 games and scored 28 goals. “The Tank” (as he was known) moved to Wolves in 1972, where his bustling style made him a crowd favourite. He scored 31 goals in over 150 league and cup appearances for Wolves. In 1977, he returned to Burnley before moving to Huddersfield Town where he was part of a minor piece of football history, being one of three goalkeepers used in an FA Cup Tie v Shrewsbury in 1981. Regular goalkeeper Andy Rankin was injured and Steve took his place, only to be injured himself, his place in turn being taken by Mark Lillis. Each of them conceded a goal, and this remains an English record for the number of keepers used in one game. Injury then ended his career in 1982.  The cost is £35 a ticket and they are available by contacting Jim Cockerton on 07817 869296 or the Club on 01386 442303.

  • Evesham Under 18 Girls Lose to Wolves in Final

    (0)May 20, 2013Girls News [Default]

Evesham United Under 18 Girls team lost the final in Rugby on Saturday 4-1 to the League Champions Wolves.  However the scoreline did not reflect Eveshams committment  and contribution to a terrific match, played in the right spirit by two teams determined to play in the right way. Player for player there was very little difference between the two squads. Evesham were beaten by two goals in each half, although Hannah Kedward did score a penalty late on and Hannah Campbell had a shot which hit the underside of the bar and then bounced down on the line.   This was the last competitive game at youth level for the following players, of which quite a few are leaving for University etc. Amy Campbell,  Hannah Campbell, Lauren Cowley, Hannah Kedward, Hannah Lowerson, Zoe Pygott  and Hannah Watts.              Other Ladies/Girls News: Evesham Ladies  2013/14 Training starting Thursday 13th June – 7-8pm at Jubilee Stadium. • Provisional Divisional Make Up 2013-14 For EUFC

    (0)May 17, 2013Club News [Default]

Following a meeting of the FA Leagues Committee held earlier today club allocations for Steps 1 to 4 for Season 2013/2014 have been released. There were some difficult decisions to make, especially at Step 4 and in particular in the Southern League Division One South & West.Due to the fact that neither the Wessex nor Western Leagues were in a position to promote a club together with the requested relegation of Sholing, that division was left with three spaces to fill. This situation was not helped by the fact that no Step 3 club was relegated to that division. This has resulted in a group of three clubs, Fleet Town, Godalming Town and Guildford City FCs being transferred to Division One South & West from Division One Central. This had a knock on effect on other clubs at Step 4.  We have also gained Stratford Town which will now be our local derby. As in previous years, there are a number of issues that may yet impact of these allocations and therefore they remain subject to change until the the AGM.   STEP 4 – SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION 1 SOUTH & WEST  Bishops Cleeve Bridgwater Town Cinderford Town Cirencester Town Clevedon Town Didcot Town Evesham United Fleet Town Godalming Town Guildford City Mangotsfield United Merthyr Town North Leigh Paulton Rovers Shortwood United Stratford Town Swindon Supermarine Taunton Town Thatcham Town Tiverton Town Wimborne Town Yate Town
