Dean Coleman

Debutant Danny Holgate got on the scoresheet to earn Evesham United a point at Paulton Rovers.  Holgate signed from Midland Alliance side Continental Star opened the scoring on 32 minutes.  The giant striker received the ball 30 yards out before smashing home a low drive beyond Rover’s keeper Kyle Phillips.

Paulton, however, were level just three minutes after half-time.  United failed to clear their lines allowing Kris Miller time and space to beat Dean Coleman.  A low key affair then came to life with both sides going all out for the win.  Marcus Palmer went closest for United, first striking the Paulton woodwork from distance and then after rounding Phillips couldn’t find a team mate to apply the finishing touch.

Henry Eze also went close with a header from Leigh Downing’s corner but it was Paulton who finished the game on top but couldn’t find a way past Coleman.  The United stopper somehow got a hand to direct Craig Loxton’s snap-shot over and then produced top class saves from Miller and the influential Nick McCootie to ensure Matt Clarke’s men a share of the spoils at the final whistle.
