Evesham United will be hoping that their pitch holds up for tonight’s visit of Abingdon United (7.45) writes Steve Carley of the Worcester News.
There is a drainage problem at the new Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium and last Saturday’s match against Mangotsfield United was postponed because the surface was waterlogged.
The Robins’ goalless draw against Cirencester Town the weekend before went ahead but had been in doubt following heavy rain.
Work is being done to try and improve conditions so that Evesham can play what would be only their fourth league match of 2013.
“It’s getting to that stage of frustration and from our point of view very disappointing,” said manager Paul West.
“The forecast isn’t great but hopefully, fingers crossed, we can get a game on.
“I believe they are trying to rectify the problem as quickly as they can because it’s about future games as well.”
United, whose home match against Wimborne Town was called off due to snow last month, are 14th in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West after 24 games but have played more times than those around them.
West added: “There are a few teams in a lot worse position than us with the weather so if it’s any consolation at least we have got our fair share of games in at this stage.”
