Evesham United travel to the Testwood Stadium on Saturday to face AFC Totton in what promises to be a tricky away test according to the Gloucestershire Echo.

Paul Collicutt’s men go into the game on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Didcot Town last time out and the Evesham boss is expecting a big response from his players.

“It was a bad day at the office for us at Didcot,” he said. “Looking at my players from that game I can say only three or four came away with any credit and the rest let me down on the day.”

Collicutt revealed he will be looking for those players to improve this weekend and he is well aware that Totton have improved since the first fixture between the two sides this season back in November when Evesham ran out 6-0 winners.

“It will be difficult for us on the day there is no doubt about it,” Collicutt said.

“Totton have come on well since we faced them earlier in the season and we will have to be at our best to get a positive result.”

Evesham will hope to bounce back from that defeat at Didcot and Collicutt understands the importance of getting a good result and building momentum.

“We had a setback last time out so I need a big response from the players and a positive result to get our play off push back on track,” he said.

“I’ve made it clear to the players how I feel about their performance at Didcot and they are aware of what I expect from them on Saturday.”

Evesham forward Lance Smith was sent off during the defeat to Didcot, but remains available for selection this weekend.

Nick Stanley is battling to be fit for the trip to Totton after the midfielder picked up a hamstring injury in the early exchanges of the match against Didcot.

“Nick is working hard to be available at the weekend but we will have to assess that later in the week,” Collicutt said.

One Evesham player who is out is Liam Harding who has made only 16 appearances so far this season due to injury.

“Liam has had a problem with his quad, but was on his way back in training on Tuesday,” Collicutt said.

“The injury resurfaced during the session and he is definitely out.”
