Evesham penultimate pre-season friendly ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Skrill North neighbours Worcester City on Tuesday evening. Ethan Moore`s first-half goal settled the game but on another day Evesham striker Carl Brown could have helped himself to a second-half hat-trick. Brown and then Mitchell Botfield rattled the visitors crossbar before Moore struck
two minutes before half-time. Daniel Nti held off the challenge of Matt Sysum before Moore pounced on the loose ball before prodding in past keeper John Bateman.

In the second-half George Williams cleared off the City line after keeper Matt Sargeant had failed to clear Marcus Jackson`s free-kick and soon after, Sargeant was at full stretch to push over Marcus Palmer`s drive. The Worcester woodwork was then struck for a third time when Linden Dovey smacked his shot against a post after good work by the impressive Brown.
In the space of 15 minutes, Brown was denied by Sargeant and twice rolled efforts agonisingly wide after racing clear. There was still time before the end for United substitute Thomas John to play-in Dovey who went close to grabbing a deserved equaliser for the hosts.
