It was a case after the Lord Mayor`s show for a tired looking Evesham side who surrendered their unbeaten away record in the Evo-Stik South & West division at Mangotsfield United. Over the years Cossham Street has never been a happy hunting ground for Evesham and so it proved again on Tuesday night.

Apart from an opening ten minute burst, United were second best for the rest of the game and looked leg weary after their grueling FA Cup tie with Bromley at the weekend. It was the same starting line-up for the Robins, which included former Mangotsfield players, skipper Matt Sysum and goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer.

Carl Brown: early chances

Carl Brown: early chances

United`s best spell was at the start when Carl Brown fired a couple of efforts wide and the Mango`s keeper Joe Perry was at full stretch to deny the lively Brown another goalscoring opportunity. Unfortunately that was it, as far as Evesham were concerned, as the home side went on to dominate the rest of the encounter. Lewis Hogg on his Mangotsfield debut got the ball rolling for the home side on 13 minutes when the experienced midfielder slotted the hosts ahead following Steve Davies` right-wing cross. After a period of pressure, Gary Colborne gave Sawyer little chance with a bullet header on 34 minutes to double the advantage to 2-0.

On the hour Lewis Powell let fly from outside the box to make it 3-0 and effectively end the game as a contest. United substitute Harry Williams did force a save out of Perry at the other end but that was the closest United got to pulling a goal back as Mangotsfield comfortably saw out time to end a run of three straight defeats.
