On a very sunny afternoon the two ladies teams put on a a highly competitive encounter for the league cup quarter final.

Evesham had soundly beaten Phoenix earlier in the season but it was obvious from the start that they were not going to allow a repeat. The Wyre Forest Ladies hassled and harried the visitors from the start and did not allow Evesham to play their passing game. Playing down the slope Evesham continued to press and after 25 minutes took the lead. One of the few crosses Evesham had managed eventually dropped to Laura Pearce who fired across the keeper into the far corner. Just before half time another Evesham attack was not properly cleared by the Pheonix captain and Pearce pounced, poking the ball into the corner for 2-0. Evesham continued to press but the hosts were continuing to battle and from a break away an Evesham defender jumped into a tackle on the Wyre Forest winger and was given a red card. It was not a malicious challenge but the decision was correct even though the Evesham player was distraught. Half time 0-2

The second half was a rather different story, Evesham moved captain Rosie Johns to centre back and played with one up front. The football played by both teams improved greatly and although both teams created chances no further goals were scored and Evesham went through to the Semi Finals where they will meet Droitwich Spa Ladies.
