Barwell Reserves 1 vs Evesham Utd Reserves 2

With suspensions and injuries , the young squad travelled away with a new back line, under 18s Adam Howells along with new signing Dan Price, and Ryan Craig acting captain. Barwell were third in the division.

Within the first five minutes Evesham opened the scoring with slick movement from the midfield up to the forwards Oliver Burness and Michael Bent, with Burness passing to Bent to put Evesham ahead.

The midfield of Ryan Hodgetts, Theo Lewars, Josh Bartlam, Ben Hayes and Paul Whitehouse, controlled the game and played outstanding throughout. Whitehouse scored Evesham’s second on 30 minutes and Barwell managed to pull a goal back just before half time, but only looked to catch Evesham out with long balls, trying to bypass the midfield.

The second half was a war of attrition, with the young Evesham side matching Barwell. It was a gutsy performance from the whole squad. The result sees Evesham in sixth place.

Evesham at home to Atherstone in the Birmingham Macron Cup, next Saturday 23rd. Kick off 3 pm.
