Carl Brown: Scored equaliser

Steve Kingdon put the visitors one up on just two minutes to stun the home crowd.  Evesham responded well when good work from Lee Smith down the left saw a pass to Ashley Edenborough who held the ball up well and laid it off to Carl Brown who shot into the bottom left corner.  Evesham remained marginally on top throughout the rest of the first half.

The hosts started brightly in the first ten minutes of the second half, but Taunton came back into the game creating three good chances including a clearance off the line by Marcus Jackson.

The winner came in the 78th minute when a Nick Stanley drive from just inside the box was touched home from close-range by Ashley Edenborough.  Evesham could have sealed the game but in the same attack, Lance Smith, Edenborough and Lee Smith all spurned the opportunity to score.

The second half could have gone either way but it is Evesham who grabbed the vital win.  We are 12 points clear of Yate Town who are sixth, but who have a game in hand.  As it stands, we need 13 points from the last seven games to guarantee a play-off spot.

EVESHAM UNITED: Sawyer, Brown, Stanley, Harding, Sysum, Dovey, Washbourne (Jackson 58), Wilson (Wood 79), Edenborough, Mann (Lance Smith 66), Lee Smith.
