It was four seasons in one day at the Jubilee Stadium this afternoon, with sun, rain, a hail storm, cold and rainbows.

Evesham entertained mid-table Wimborne Town and took a deserved lead in the 12th minute when an Adam Mann lay-off went to Jared Wilson who scored with a shot from just inside the box.  Evesham should have added more goals in the first half, but poor finishing was the order of the day.  The best chance for Wimborne saw a defensive slip latched on to by their forward who rounded Kevin Sawyer and shot, but it was brilliantly cleared off the line by Man of the Match Linden Dovey.

In the second half the game was turned round with two goals in four minutes for the visitors around the hour mark by Ian Oliver and James Stokoe.  Evesham then put more pressure on the Wimborne goal leaving them exposed to the counter-attack.  However it was the home side who scored a deserved equaliser in the 89th minute when an Adam Mann free kick was headed home by Ashley Edenborough.

So that is one defeat in 18 games and we stay in third place.  It was a day of late goals for some of the teams around us, but a play-off place is in our own hands.

EVESHAM UNITED:
Sawyer, Wood, Slack, Harding  (Lance Smith 70), Sysum, Dovey, Washbourne (Jackson 63), Wilson (Brown 66), Edenborough, Mann, Lee Smith.
SUB NOT USED: Knowles

One can not say that it was a deserved equaliser when on his own admission Ashley Edenborough apologised to the Wimborne defenders and confirmed that he ‘punched’ the ball in and was surprised he got away with it. Let us hope that Wimborne make the play offs and meet your side again!
