Lance Smith scored a second-half hat-trick in Evesham United’s 6-0 demolition of AFC Totton in Southern League Division 1 South and West.

On a cold afternoon, it was Evesham who were sharpest from the start.

The first goal came from a Nick Stanley cross that fell to Mann, who found space in the box to shoot past Mowthorpe from ten yards to give the Robins the lead after seven minutes.  On twenty minutes Lance Smith shot over from point blank range when it was easier to score, with Totton only creating the odd chance.

After half-time the visitors began brightly and had a good chance with a twenty yard shot from Gosney that went just wide. But the hosts doubled their lead ten minutes after half time, as Smith grabbed his first of the afternoon, getting behind the Stags defence before rounding Mowthorpe to finish from a tight angle.

Smith scored his second on 73 minutes from substitute Lewis Powell’s cross by shooting a curled shot home from 15 yards. The provider turned scorer two minutes later, as Powell rounded Mowthorpe to score Evesham’s fourth on his debut.

Totton conceded their fifth with three minutes to go as Evesham captain Matt Sysum got free in the box to volley home from Sean Wood’s in-swinging corner, and Smith grabbed his hat-trick with the final move of the game, heading in his third and the Robin’s sixth.
