Evesham moved up to second place in the League with this deserved 1-0 victory at Shortwood United today.  For the second game running, Adam Mann was the hero with the only goal of the game in the 36th minute when he seized on a mistake in the Shortwood defence and slotted home past the keeper.

Earlier the home side started the better and went closest, before Carl Brown and Ashley Edenborough had chances. The first half was spoilt by the wind.

The second half saw Kevin Sawyer make some good saves and chances for Lee Smith, Lance Smith and George Washbourne.  Despite seven minutes of injury time, Evesham held on to secure the double over Shortwood this season.

So that is 1 defeat in 23 games and 14 clean sheets in that run, of which we are now 10 unbeaten.  We require 5 points from 5 games to qualify for the play-offs.

EVESHAM UNITED: Sawyer, Brown (Wood 41, Washbourne 78), Stanley, Harding, Slack (Lance Smith 57), Dovey, Jackson, Wilson, Edenborough, Mann, Lee Smith.
