A waterlogged playing surface resulted in the majority of the game being a comedy of slips, air swings and the ball stopping dead in mud patches.  Evesham started the stronger and had the best chances.

On 30 minutes the visitors won a corner. Matt Sysum’s header was cleared off the line and his follow up shot was parried by the keeper. Wimborne still could not clear their lines however, and eventually Leigh Downing drove a hard, low shot in from the edge of the area, finding the back of the Wimborne net from 20 yards.  The home side did not manage a shot on target in the first half.

The second half started in the same vein, with Evesham creating the chances.  It was not until the hour mark that Wimborne came back into the game.  In the last ten minutes it was all Wimborne, but the ball just would not go in the net.
