Evesham United are chasing an 11th straight league win as Salisbury visit Saturday.

Boss Paul Collicutt believes Steve Claridge’s side will provide the sternest test of the season at the Jubilee Stadium so far according to the Gloucestershire Echo.

Evesham are unbeaten at home, but Salisbury are one of two teams to defeat them in Division One South and West this season, along with Shortwood United.

A solitary strike from Tommy Wright in the 86th minute separated the sides at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium on the opening day of the campaign.

“Salisbury started as one of the favourites to win the league along with Hereford and the lad they have up front, Justin Bennett, has a very good scoring record,” Collicutt said.

“They beat us in the opening game on a boiling hot day and Saturday’s game is probably as tough as we will have had at home this season and certainly a big challenge.”

Defender Linden Dovey, who is unbeaten since taking over as captain of Evesham has a dead leg from Tuesday’s 5-1 home win over Wantage Town, but Collicutt expects him to be fit to play.

Elliot Kennedy is close to making his return from injury and may be in the squad, leaving striker Sam Pearson (thigh) as the only man definitely out.

Carl Brown and Will Wellon are both likely to play for Tuffley Rovers to build match fitness.

Evesham fell behind on Tuesday and goalkeeper Kevin Sawyer also had to save a penalty before they stormed back with goals from Mark Magee (2), Liam Harding and Lance Smith (2) and make it 10 wins in a row.

“We started slowly and after 43 minutes I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to say in my half-time chat,” Collicutt said.

“We then scored twice to make it 2-1 at half-time, but I still had some strong words and in the second half we took complete control.

“All three lads who went on, Lance, Ashley Williams and Jordan Bryan, had an impact and it shows the strength we have in the squad now.

“When everyone is fit, it makes it interesting because the run the lads are on has been exceptional and it’s the strongest group I’ve had since I took over here.”
