Top scorer Lance Smith is poised to return for Evesham United’s crucial clash against play-off rivals Swindon Supermarine at the Jubilee Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

The striker, who has scored 26 goals in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West this term, is back available after serving a three-match ban.

It is a timely boost for Paul Collicutt’s men who have the opportunity to move further clear of sixth-placed Swindon.

The Robins, who have a five-point cushion over their opponents, have won their last three games, including a 2-0 victory at Bishop’s Cleeve on Saturday.

Striker Carl Brown remains suspended, but Evesham have bolstered their ranks with the signing of Matt Williams ahead of Thursday’s registration deadline.

It is the defender’s second spell with United having also played for Cheltenham Town, Bishop’s Cleeve and Gloucester City.

And the 23-year-old is expected to feature in tomorrow night’s game as Leroy Odiero continues to recover from two fractured fingers.

Evesham claimed a 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture in October and were 2-1 up against Marine in February before the match was abandoned early in the second half due to floodlight failure.
