Evesham United have a score to settle as they travel to Larkhall Athletic on Saturday according to the Gloucestershire Echo.

They were unceremoniously dumped out of the play-offs by the Bath-based club, who raced into a 3-0 win before half-time in the one off semi-final at the Jubilee Stadium last season.

Paul Collicutt’s side go to the Plain Ham Ground on the back of a midweek FA Trophy replay success at Chasetown, where they hit back from a goal down to win 2-1 with goals from Adam Mann and Matt Sysum.

The vastly improved second half performance had Collicutt scratching his head as to how his team could be so bad for 45 minutes and then turn on the style after the break.

“We’ve played Chasetown three times this season and the second half on Tuesday was the only time we’ve played well,” Collicutt said.
“I was really disappointed with the first half, but we looked a different side and ripped Chasetown apart in the second.

“One fan told me after the game it was the best he’d ever seen an Evesham side play, which was uplifting and if we could somehow bottle that performance, I’d be very happy!”

Collicutt said last year’s play-off defeat by Larkhall was among the most disappointing days of his managerial career.

“There is definitely a bit extra on this game because of last season,” Collicutt said.

“It hurt me and it hurt the players. We’d been on such a good run, with one defeat in 28 or 29 games, I just didn’t see it coming and it knocked me back.”

Collicutt has no new injury worries and will name the same squad that faced Chasetown.
