Evesham United striker Adam Mann has been challenged to fill the boots of Lance Smith in tomorrow’s Evo Stik Southern League Division One South and West trip to Paulton Rovers (3pm) according to the Evesham Journal.

Smith snapped up four goals in the Robins’ 5-0 rout of Bridgwater Town last Saturday but has travelled to Geneva on business.

Mann will start in his place and Evesham manager Paul Collicutt wants the striker to seize his chance.

“I have told Adam he’s got to make this opportunity count and it’s his chance to do his best to keep Lance out of the team,” said Collicutt.

Collicutt is expecting a “difficult game” against Paulton, who were relegated from the Premier Division last term.

The boss said: “Paulton’s pitch is on a bit of a slope. They know how to play it and we know we will have our work cut out.

“We have a quick turnaround with a home match against Yate Town on Tuesday and I have told the players what I expect from the next two games.

“They are two difficult matches but I have set the players a target, so they know exactly what I want.”

Forward Sam Pearson (quad) and defender Will Wellon (hamstring) have been ruled out through injury.

Winger Jake Sloggett has been playing for Tuffley Rovers and centre-half Matt Sysum for Longlevens to build match fitness.
