MANAGER Paul Collicutt insists Evesham United’s “massive” victory over Taunton Town will “mean nothing” if they come away empty-handed from Tiverton Town tomorrow (3pm) according to the Worcester News.

Goals from Jordan Bryan and Adam Mann saw the Robins beat second-placed Taunton 2-0 at the Jubilee Stadium last Saturday.

Collicutt said the win kept “pressure” on the teams above Evesham who occupy the final play-off spot in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West and are seven points inside the top five.

With their next opponents Tiverton two points and two places higher Collicutt has urged his side, who are on a five-match unbeaten run, to close the gap.

“It was a massive three points last weekend,” Collicutt said.

“The response when Adam scored (in stoppage-time) from everyone showed how much it meant to us.

“But that will mean nothing if we don’t get anything at Tiverton.

“It is important we take points off them because they are in front of us and we can create a bit of pressure.

“Everyone is scrambling to finish as high as they can in the league so every game is getting bigger and bigger.”

Injured top scorer Lance Smith (ankle) has been ruled out while versatile attacker Bradley Gray is set to miss the trip after picking up an ankle problem in training.

But striker Carl Brown and midfielder Ashley Williams are back as Evesham aim to avenge their 4-1 loss at home to Tiverton in December.

“It was the biggest defeat we have suffered this season but the scoreline flattered them,” Collicutt added.

“We have kept one or two clean sheets recently and made it difficult for teams to score against us but we will need to put in a very good performance at Tiverton.”
