Evesham United will look to show their defensive resilience tomorrow at a Winchester City side who “score goals for fun” (3pm) according to the Worcester News.

Although third-placed Robins are flying high in Southern League Division One South and West they have just one clean sheet in the last 21 league games.

Manager Paul Collicutt says Evesham will travel to Winchester in “good spirits” and he backs his strike-force to score.

However, he has called on his side to tighten up at the back as they bid to shut out their opponents who possess potent striker Craig Feeney.

Collicutt said: “If we can keep a clean sheet I am sure we will take our chances at the other end.

“We haven’t kept sides out as much as I would have liked over the last couple of months.

“I always think we have got a chance of scoring with the way we play our football.

“But I know we are playing against a team who score goals for fun so it is going to be a very difficult game and defensively we have got to be a lot stronger than in recent games.”

When the two sides met last month Evesham won 3-1 but Collicutt was impressed with 20-goal Feeney.

“I would say Craig is one of the best strikers in the league,” he said.

“Last time we played them he looked as good as anyone I have seen this year so we have certainly got our work cut out.

“Winchester are no mugs as they are in the top nine so will be looking to get into the play-offs like us.”

Captain Linden Dovey (ankle) and striker Paul Fahy (groin) remain sidelined.

Winger Carl Brown is fit to play after a hamstring injury as Evesham bid to end a run of three matches without a win.

“We will go to Winchester in good spirits as we are unbeaten in six games,” Collicutt added.

“We won the first three and drew the next three so we have made life difficult for ourselves.

“Taunton won on Tuesday and can now overtake us as they have two games in hand so it is getting very tight and makes for an exciting end to the season.”
