Under 14s Colts

Evesham United Colts got off to a flying start to their league campaign with a thrilling match at the Jubilee. The first half was a very cagey affair with Evesham taking the lead through a Luke Holme strike, Broadway rallied well and replied with a goal of their own almost instantly, ending a very even half 1-1.

The second half started in the same fashion, but after a mazy run from Reagan Martin, matched only by the finish saw Evesham nudge ahead, further goals from Luke Holme and Reagan Martin opened the game right up with Broadway now chasing the game. After an excellent set piece goal from Broadway, Evesham finally put the game to bed when Henry Bell slotted home from close range after some intricate play by Evesham in the area. Played in good spirit from both teams.

Under 13s Robins

Evesham travelled to Droitwich and came back with all 3 points after a 10 – 2 victory, but faced a scare after being pegged back 3 – 2 in the second half.

Evesham started brightly and scored the first goal of the game after Jack Tustin worked hard to win the ball back in his own half then playing the ball to Luke Hulme who laid the ball to Antonio Pirelli who scored with a left footed strike into the bottom corner.

Luke scored his first of the game lobbing the keeper from nearly 30 yards but only after Ben Robinson worked hard to close the opposition down and force the error. Antonio then scored his second of the game also lobbing the keeper inside the 18 yard box.

Droitwich then pulled a goal back from a corner.

Evesham led at half time 3-1 but as the half drew to a close Jakub Rykaczewski fired a powerful shot which hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced agonisingly the wrong side of the goal line.

Straight from the second half kick off Droitwich scored a second to make it 3 – 2 and put Evesham under pressure.

A change of formation followed and players switch positions but this seemed to settle us down again and it wasn’t long before we scored the 4th with Antonio scoring his 3rd after Vito Pilade had squared the ball to him to fire into an empty net.

Anto then scored his 4th and 8th goal in 2 games thanks again to Vito who worked hard to close the opposition down and again force the error.

Vito then scored his first goal of the game turning on a loose ball in the box to fire home giving the keeper no chance.

Luke then scored his second of the game with a solo run into the box finishing neatly.

Vito scored his 2nd of the game, again after a run from Luke who saw his shot rebound across the face of the goal with Vito on hand to beat Reagan to the ball and score into an empty net.

Luke then completed his hat trick again with a solo run into the box and cool finish.

Not to be outdone by Antonio, Luke scored hi9s 4th of the game and 8th goal in 2 games after Vito had won the ball back off the opposition direct from kick off to release Luke to score again.

After the initial scare, the lads responded well showed good spirit and deservedly won the game convincingly (personally, I believe this was down to fitness levels and the depth of the squad).

Man of the Match today goes to Jakub Rykaczewski who was strong, defended well, distributed the ball well and was very unlucky not to score.
