Evesham United Colts Under 16s started the season off with a tense 5-3 win in the Evesham Ambassador League Pool A against strong opposition, Tewkesbury Town Pumas U16.

Pumas opened up the score, by Harry Shearer, but Evesham swiftly responded and went on to lead 3-1 at halftime with Harvey Clough scoring on either side of Tom Jones’ goal.

The second half saw Tewkesbury come out stronger, with Harry Shearer scoring two more goals to make the score 3-3 and complete his hat trick. With the match level, both sides thought they could win. Both keepers were tested, with the Tewkesbury keeper in particular, Cormach Papirnak, making some great saves. After an unlucky deflection in the Pumas defence, saw a chance for Will McGarr to go through on goal and pass the ball into the corner. Evesham later confirmed the 5-3 win with a headed goal from Nathan Lewis.
