Evesham Utd Robins Under 12s 3 vs Ilmington United 1

Evesham maintained there 100% record to the start of the season with a hard fought 3-1 victory over Ilmington United. Evesham were dealt an early blow before a ball was kicked with goalkeeper Liam Bennett being unavailable through illness, however, Reagan Martin volunteered to go in goal and after a shaky start went on to make a number of fine saves and was named man of the match by the opposition manager who was even more shocked when I told him he’s not our regular keeper.
Despite going behind early on and after an unconvincing start to the game, Evesham levelled with a goal from Ben Robinson who gambled on a loose ball after a number of players hesitated in the opposition box. Evesham then took the lead before half time after an exquisite pass from Luke Hulme who set Antonio Pirelli through who finished with a calm, composed side foot effort over the advancing keeper. The second half was much the same as the first half and the lads had to knuckle down, battle hard and ride the storm as Ilmington pushed hard in search of the equaliser. However, Evesham then scored a decisive match winning goal after Ben Arthurs appeared from nowhere to latch on to a cross-shot from Luke Hulme to fire powerfully into the net.
