Last Saturday, the girls started slightly nervously having been beaten the week before in a friendly, but it soon became apparent that with Hannah Kedward, Shannon Murphy, Millie Meadows and Sophie Broome running the midfield victory was within their grasp.

After some excellent attacking play Evesham forced Warriors to concede a corner on 10 minutes and a powered cross from Zoe Pygott was brutally dispatched into the net by Sophie Griffiths.

Griffiths then started some of her typical trickery on the right wing and it wasn’t long before a cross was superbly finished off by the excellent Hannah Campbell to put the visitors two up.

Evesham continued to press and Pygott got on the score sheet after hard work down the left by Hannah Lowerson. However it was Hannah Campbell who was causing all the problems for the Warriors defence and it was her diligence that led to Laura Powers latching on to the ball and releasing a shot which the Warriors keeper could only parry back to her and although half falling she managed to shoot again with her left forcing the ball in off the inside of the post.

The Evesham defence including Amy Campbell, Kelly Fowkes, Beth Guy and Kelly Fowkes was being brought into  play by swift breaks when Warriors played the ball over the top. However these attacks were being well marshalled by Captain Lauren Cowley.

The start of the second half saw Warriors come out strongly, with only 10 players on a warm sunny day they weren’t prepared to lie down and give up which was a credit to them.

Evesham did manage however manage to score a fifth midway through the half when Powers went on a typically forceful run brushing off the defender before shooting past the excellent Warriors keeper.

Special mention should be made of Clare Hampton in the Evesham goal who was on her toes when needed on a quiet afternoon for the keeper.
