Evesham United 0 vs Boston United 3

Despite a spirited display and certainly not outplayed, Evesham United’s FA Trophy run finally game to an end against National League North Boston United on Monday evening.

Connor Dimaio had the first opportunity, testing Robins keeper Lewis Clayton, sailing an audacious effort wide from centre circle and then firing another rising drive over the crossbar.

Boston captain Jay Rollins, opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finding the killer touch from close range after Joe Leesley’s corner caused the hosts problems. Scott Garner’s header was cleared off the line and Luke Shiels rattled the bar with a follow up before the ball finally found the Evesham net.

The Boston keeper Crook threw himself behind a Josh Horrell drive towards the end of the half as Evesham chased a route back into the game.

Leesley doubled the advantage in the 57th minute, this time his corner evading everyone as it found its way over the line as it curled in at the near post.

Home skipper Matt Williams slid in on the line to deny Fraser Preston a third for Boston, while Leesley’s free-kick was turned aside by Clayton.

There were brief chances for Evesham through Aaron Basford and Josh Hunt, with Crook repelling the former’s effort, but the higher graded opponents killed off the game in added time.

Preston delivered from the left flank and the substitute Burrow crashed the ball home from 12 yards.

A flattering scoreline in the end after a good performance by Evesham, with the visitors extra quality the difference.
