On a very hot and sunny afternoon the U11 Robins went up against a very competitive group of 11 other teams in the annual Alcester Town football tournament.

Split into 2 pools of 6 teams the Robins would have to come in the top two teams in order to progress into the Semi Final stage.
A slow start in the first game saw the Robins go 1-0 down, but some persistent attacks and a penalty in the final minute of the game saw the Robins come out 2-1 victors.

Unfortunately, the second game didn’t go to plan with the Robins losing 2-0. This meant that the Robins could not lose any of the 3 remaining games in order to give themselves a chance of progressing.

The third game was another close game, and another last-minute goal saw the Robins win 2-1.

The fourth game saw a much-improved performance from the Robins who took an early lead. The game seemed settled until a quick counter by the opposition meant that the game ended 1-1.

The final pool game gave the Robins a clear target. To win the game by a margin of 4 goals, do this and the team would progress into the Semi Final. Win and score 4 they did, thus securing a spot in the semi-finals.

The semi-final saw the Robins up against the team who topped the second group of 6, who had won all their 5 pool games. Some fantastic teamwork, effort and quality saw the Robins through to the final with a 1-0 win.

The final was another close affair which would be decided by a true piece of quality from the Robins captain, with the game ending 1-0 and the Evesham Robins winning the tournament.

A really pleasing afternoon by the Robins who had worked hard, improved as the tournament went on and made those close moments count. A good start to the tournament season for the Robins who visit Ledbury and Tewksbury in the upcoming weeks.
