Welland Ladies 2 vs Evesham Utd Ladies 2

Evesham travelled to Upton to play Welland Ladies on a mild dry afternoon and were dealt a blow with their regular keeper ruled out through injury for up to two months, so stand-in keeper Rosie Johns donned the gloves.

The visitors had all the early pressure.  However Emily Young looking lively on the right wing and Sam Scully and Amy Summers looking dangerous up front with half chances being blocked or being off target. With Welland dangerous on the break, and from a corner not being cleared they took the lead. Straight from the kick off Summers just shot over, then she equalised from a fine cross from Young. Soon after, Scully went through in a challenge with the Welland keeper who was injured in the collision and was unable to continue. Evesham deservedly took the lead on forty minutes when a fine ball from Domi Mayhew found Scully who netted.

The second half started with a Natalie Potter free kick just over the bar, and full back Jess Newman’s shot just over as well. The game then became more even and a rare mistake from Sam Perry let in the hosts speedy forward who netted to make it level.

Evesham upped their game and further chances for subs Summer Collishaw and Tash Bryant were just over. A fair result against a stubborn and improved Welland side.
