Evesham Ladies yesterday travelled to play Welland Ladies under the backdrop of the Malvern Hills, with 3 regulars missing one of these being the keeper.

The play was end to end with Welland hitting the post and another chance going wide. The returning Sophie Griffiths was causing the Welland defence problems with her speed and direct running on the right wing. Evesham took the lead when Diane O’Hare toe poked in the corner after good work by Sam Scully. It soon became 2-0 when a high ball from Grace Harker found Scully who coolly finished. Griffiths had a further chance that hit the post.

The second half started with Natasha Bryant having a mazy run on the left but shooting wide. Six minutes into the second half another cross from Griffiths found Scully who netted easily. Further chances fell to Hannah Campbell  and Griffiths, but they shot wide. The Evesham defence of Jess Newman, Nicole Maher, Hollie Rae and Kelly Fowkes were clearing any Welland attacks with stand in keeper Rosie Johns competent on her line.

Welland were awarded a free kick in a dangerous area which they eventually netted from and deep into stoppage time a ball over the top found a Welland player free who finished well. Evesham comfortably held on to win 3-2.
