Dave Giles, our Youth Coordinator, sends his last blog from the Gambia where he has been coaching in a school.

Hi all, well it’s been a few days with no blog because we have had power cuts and I have been bitten by black fly which has left me swollen and in pain.

The last couple of days I have been at the school and today is the last day, which is sad but I must come home to the cold weather some time.

Overall it’s been a fantastic experience from the day going to the cup final, meeting the High Commissioner, coaching at the community football club and the school. I would like to thank the support from Evesham United FC, Broadway United FC and of course Mr & Mrs Green who made time on their holiday to meet me and bring out boots for the kids.

Gambia is unique from the culture to the lack of anything other than the sun. I will be back in November for a month and do it all again with the help of a couple of coaches from Evesham United, Jamie and Jack, and I’m sure it will be a fantastic experience for them.

Lastly I would like to thank Matin Collier at the Worcestershire FA and Simon Purfield at Evesham United FC for their support and bringing my time in Gambia to life with the blogs. Hope you all have a little understanding of some of the great work going on around our clubs.
