Our Junior Section Coordinator Dave Giles is again making a visit to the Gambia where he goes to  coach juniors. Here is an update received today.

I was invited to the youth cup final at the Gambian small stadium.  The football was really good, plus it was the only time I have seen grass in The Gambia. There were some very good players but the pitch was rock hard with no water on it at all, but still it was on grass. The teams were the Falcons FC  v S villa FC. There was a great crowd with music playing all through the game and whistles going off every where. Later I was invited to meet the Gambian Minister of Sport Mr Henry Gomez who was really interested in the way grassroots football is set up in the U.K.  It was a great day out with some great people who love their football. The crowd for youth cup final was 2430. Fantastic to see.
