Paul Collicutt’s Robins continued their run of being unbeaten so far in 2018, taking them to 4th place in the Evo-Stik Southern League West Division. They started the game by far the strongest of the two sides. Paulton struggled to get any possession during the early exchanges as Evesham made their customary good start to a game at the Jubilee.

Liddiard 13 goals this season

With just 10 minutes on the clock Adam Mann & Lewis Powell had put together some good link up play around the Paulton box but, it was Matt Liddiard that found himself on the end of a Powell lay off which he slotted past Hannah in the visitor’s goal.

Following the opening goal, the pace of the game slowed down, on the half hour a Jordan Bryan cross found the head of Powell whose bullet header was turned around the post by a superb save from Hannah in the Paulton goal. The same pairing of Bryan and Powell combined again in first half injury time but the latter could not get his head onto another superb Bryan cross.

It was the visitors who started the second half the strongest but, it didn’t take Evesham too long to get back at it. In the 50th minute a Lewis Powell shot that looked goal bound was blocked by Paulton’s number 3 Kyle Knott, Powell was thwarted again a few minutes later when Lewis Binns made a great run down the left and his cross found Powell’s head only for the ball to be cleared off the line.

Evesham kept on applying the pressure and it was then substitute Carl Brown who was to bring out yet another superb save from Hannah in the Paulton goal, this time following an excellent solo breakaway. Just 10 minutes later and the visiting keeper yet again denied Brown with another excellent save.

In the final few nervy minutes of the game Aysa Corrick evaded the opposition and found Adam Mann whose shot was smothered once again by Hannah who, had no doubt been the busiest player on the pitch all afternoon.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 90th minute when Liam Monelle received his second yellow card of the afternoon, this time for simulation.
