Finally, a game of football on a Saturday at ‘The Jubilee’ and it’s the 1st of September…

The game started against newly promoted Blackfield & Langley with neither side able to stamp their authority on the game, the only real action in the first 30 minutes was a Will Tunnicliff header that was cleared off the line by the visitor’s skipper Sam Poole.

The Robins finally managed to break the deadlock on 37 minutes when, a Nick Hancock throw in found Corey Simpson on the edge of the Blackfield box, followed by a superb turn and sublimed left footed shot which beat the keeper and found the top corner of the net, much to the delight of the home fans.

Nathan Summers received a straight red card in the 39th minute, reducing the home side to 10 men for the remainder of the game, they managed to hold onto the lead as the game reached half time and give the manager an opportunity to regroup his side.

A reorganisation was required, and Joe Tumelty was sacrificed at half time to bring on another defender in the shape of Nick Humphreys.

It was 10-man Evesham started the better of the two sides and were the only side that looked like they wanted to win, with chances falling to Cory Simpson, Will Tunnicliff and Marley Thomas none of whom were able to find the net.

Nick Hancock, seemed to have a hand in everything.

With ‘The Robins’ now well on top it was only a matter of time, before they get their second goal and they finally doubled their advantage in the 75th minute.  A Nick Hancock corner was headed in by Nick Humpheys whose strong well directed header gave Lewis Noice in the visitors goal no chance.

Evesham continued to be the only side applying any pressure until the game was delayed on 83 minutes due to a serious head injury to Tyrone Tucker-Dixon, who after several minutes of treatment had to be stretchered off.

Having used all 3 substitutes Evesham were reduced to 9 men for the remainder of the game. The visitors managed to get a late consolation goal in the 9th minute of injury time when Fatah Maklhuufi slotted the ball home from close range. The home side managed to defend their goal for the remainder of the game and pick up all three points at the end of 102 minutes of football.
